Owners Steve and Nicole Reed started Café Edelweiss in 2007 in Selma, North Carolina. The small town atmosphere with its downtown Antique district attracted them to Selma. After 2 ½ years, they decided to move Café Edelweiss to downtown Raleigh to be able to offer their German cuisine to a larger audience.
Nicole, born and raised in Munich, met her husband Steve while stationed with the US Army in Germany. He was fortunate to be able to pursue his passion for cooking as a cook in the Army for 20 years. He spent a total of 12 years in Germany during which he volunteered as a baker and pastry maker in a German bakery. Steve and Nicole’s passion for German food shows in each and every dish Café Edelweiss is serving. “We are striving to be as authentic as possible. The dishes we offer at Cafe Edelweiss are like I remember on Sundays at Oma’s (grandmas) kitchen table” says Nicole. “The recipes we are using have been passed down to me from my family and we are proud to be able to bring a taste of Germany to Raleigh.”
